London Design Festival - Photographic exhibition

Really excited about London Design week 18th - 25th September 2010. This year in a collaboration with the lovely Luke Kirwan from Blunt Agency we are taking part and exhibiting at the Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Agency.
Here's the press release... read all about it ..

On the Road Photographic Exhibition

A collective of young design talent - 'On the Road' is an exhibition showcasing work by rising design stars of 2010.
The photographs will be on display as part of London Design Festival, 20th - 27th
September 2010 in the windows of the prolific Advertising agency Saatchi &
Saatchi, 80 Charlotte Street W1A 1AQ.
'On the road' is a photographic exhibition featuring six young furniture/product
designers. Based on the idea of an advertising campaign - these creatives are
literally ... on the road to success…

The design collective was established to create a platform for young design talent
and help to bridge the transition between graduation and launching successful
careers. The products were selected for the photographic exhibition because of
innovative use of materials and appealing aesthetics. Each of the designers has
their product featured within a set using geometric shaped mirrors which reflect
the surroundings and give a view of the road symbolic of their current journey.
The photographs are clean and graphic in style and display the pieces in a
complementary fashion.

Armed with an impressive list of awards and achievements including winner of
New Designers 2010 Tortie Hoare, these budding talents should be pinpointed
on the creative map.
Designers in the collective include: Adi Chambers, Design Kug(Sungkug Kim), Dominic Williams, Ellen Thomas, Jack Wilesmith, Matt Autton and Tortie Hoare.

Prop styling became very interesting when recently shooting with Rick Guest from East Photographic Agency for Esquire magazine. Asked to provide an array of unusual and intriguing items we set a scene for Tony Ward - model, actor, fashion designer painter and photographer. With the combination of Ricks professionalism and high class photography, the charisma of Tony and props which verged toward the darker side of the psyche .. the shots were stunning. Can't wait to put them on the website when they are out.

Adidas Training Mens/women Spring/Summer 2011

Really pleased to have just finished working on Adidas Training Mens/women Spring/Summer 2011 campaign. Asked by Bejou Baille De La Perriere, producer extrodinaire and JN production I worked alongside photographer Ben Ingham . It was such a pleasure to style the props for this shoot and see the vision of Art Director Ben Parker , one of the Directors of Made thought, come alive. What a great team of people - this is going to be a brilliant campaign, definitely one to watch out for.

Big up the boys

When it comes to following football I'm a bit of a dinosaur, I merry it all along especially when it's world cup time, but to be honest its hard to muster up too many enthusiams especially when England are going to globally embarrass us so much.
I mean I do enjoy watching the fit guys running about the pitch but attention quickly dwindles if I'm in a bar and my eyes wonder across the room to people watch or I just generally distract fraught tense punters whos' next breath relies on the skill of their beloved team.
But I would like to Big up the Boys from wearetheartdept.com for their topical blog showcasing their talents yet again via illustrations of the wonderful sport itself.
Have a butchers ..... http://worldcupglory.tumblr.com/  and enjoy.

Red Dress Couture Ball Charity Fashion show

Just finished a charity fashion show called The Oxford Red Dress Couture ball. This was to help support  H.E.L.P Malawi and 'Teach a man to fish'. These charities are dedicated to helping the lives of children coping with HIV/AIDS in Africa by building schools, medical clinics and providing programs leading to sustainability.
It was held in the beautiful Oxford town hall and had dresses donated from Herve Leger, Issa, Christiane King, Chanel, Vera Wang, John Galliano, Nicole Farhi, Paul Smith and Matthew Williamson to name but a few.
I was really pleased to be asked to do this by James at JN productions as Oxford is my home town.

New Studio

Now in a new more spacious studio at Trinity Buoy Wharf, lovely view over the Thames in a cultural and artistic environment. Studio shared with Photographer Robin Brigham.

News Feb 2010

Recently finished an installation in the Saatchi and Saatchi windows at Charlotte Street.
Spanning over four windows, this was a fun and dynamic sculptural display made using shopping bags.

This came just before an advertising job for Westfield, collaborating with underwater photographer Zena Holloway. For this I styled and made dresses for the shoot which is going to be used for poster, web and print for the regional Spring/Summer promotions.
The shoot was filmed for their behind the scenes records.

Alongside these jobs I was also continuing collaborations with wearetheartdept.com designing and making flowers for a Sainsbury's animation shot by Jermaine Francis.

Very pleased to work again with photographer Steve Harries I did props and set design for an Esquire shoot in January. All in all its been a very busy start to the year.

Website www.brigithegarty.com is currently being updated and should have new work available to view by mid March.
